Timely Connections
I've been really focused lately on connecting with SW's customers in real-time. The Internet allows me to post site updates as soon as they happen, send promotions at specific times when they are most relevant to people, and to have an ongoing dialogue with customers who show an interest in doing so, whether it be for site feedback or just to get to know the people behind the website. One of my recent blog posts included a reference to a White Stripes song. A user named Andrew correctly emailed me the reference, which started a back and forth email chat about Jack White that ended in me buying him a White Stripes t-shirt and having it mailed to him for being such a cool dude.
In all instances, engaging in these 'timely connections' is giving SW a younger and more approachable profile, and it makes my job much more fun. It's also moving the brand away from the corporate service that SW started out as and into more of a B-to-C retail brand. Good times all around in the marketing department over here...

really smart. b-to-b goes b-to-c goes b-to-p (p = person). i'm sure that dude will spread the word about seamless and be loyal for a long time based on that interaction.
